Welcome to the 2012 SOUTHERN KETTLE CLASSIC p/b The Southern Kettle chapter of IMBA

OK the DNR has dropped the hammer on the EMMA idea so the 2012 Southern Kettles Classic will be at John Muir. In following tradition, this year we will have a longer lap. The 75 mile race starts at 10:00 am. The 50 mile race will start at 1:00 pm. Then the last race of the day, the 25 mile race will start at 3:00 pm.

The lap will be the Blue loop to the orange loop backwards (right in the roller coaster section after the bench) to the white loop, jump back on the purple loop (rainy dew) and finish on the blue. So about 13 miles. If you pre ride please be very careful on the section of orange backwards, it would be preferable if you would walk this section. Its really only 100 feet.

The last lap will have to be completed by 8:00pm Registration is open at http://www.wemseries.com/. Day of registration will open at 8:00 am.

State park fees apply to all riders and cars parking.

There is camping in 3 DNR camping areas with 15 miles. Ottawa lake, Whitewater Lake and Pinewoods. All reservation must be made on line through the WI DNR website. There is no on site camping at the trail head. There is plenty of room for easy ups and tents along the start finish area during the event.

Sorry, sorry , sorry. The DNR has decieded that the parking issue will be to much of a burden at Emma Carlin. The Southern Kettle Classic will again be held at the John Muir Trail system.

New name - new location- same forest

The 2012  Carlin, South Kettle Classic will be held at the Emma Carlin Trail system on July 21st

Well after many unsuccessful attempts to get the event moved for Muir to Emma in the past, we found out that request has just recently been granted. The move to the Emma Carlin Trail system is a great move.   This will free up the course and have many less day of recreational rides. It will cause a small issue with parking, Some will need to park on the road or a very short distance away on a service road.  More detail will follow.

OK plans are solid for June 18th except the lay out of the lap. I will go over a few option tomorrow and we will only have one option, no switching between classes to help stop any confusion between classes.. A few things to keep in mind. The (long) 9 lap, 75 mile race starts at 10:00 am. The High School race will start at 12:00. Any student under 18 , we will have a one lap race for the low cost of $5 dollars. Please spread the word to any students you know that ride and would like to try a race.
The free kids race will be at 12:15 it will be one brown loop. The (medium) 6 lap, 50 mile race will start at 1:00 pm. The (short) 3 lap, race will start at 3:00 pm.

We will be doing a 50/50 raffle that all proceeds will go to the trail crew that will be building a new trail system in the Waukesha County parks. So bring out your Singles.
