Yes I know, the South Kettle Classic is not on the 2012 WEMS schedule; yet. We are trying to remedy that issue and hope to make that change soon and get back on the schedule.

OK plans are solid for June 18th except the lay out of the lap. I will go over a few option tomorrow and we will only have one option, no switching between classes to help stop any confusion between classes.. A few things to keep in mind. The (long) 9 lap, 75 mile race starts at 10:00 am. The High School race will start at 12:00. Any student under 18 , we will have a one lap race for the low cost of $5 dollars. Please spread the word to any students you know that ride and would like to try a race.
The free kids race will be at 12:15 it will be one brown loop. The (medium) 6 lap, 50 mile race will start at 1:00 pm. The (short) 3 lap, race will start at 3:00 pm.

The lap will be 8.9 miles each distance will be over the distance not less. The last lap will have to be completed by 8:00pm Registration is open at http://www.wemseries.com/. Day of registration will open at 8:00 am. State park fees apply to all riders and cars parking.

We will be doing a 50/50 raffle that all proceeds will go to the trail crew that will be building a new trail system in the Waukesha County parks. So bring out your Singles.

There is camping in 3 DNR camping areas with 15 miles. Ottawa lake, Whitewater Lake and Pinewoods. All reservation must be made on line through the WI DNR website. There is no on site camping at the trail head. There is plenty of room for easy up along the start finish area.

There is no official address for the Muir trail, Its 5 miles south of Palmyra on HWY H or 1 mile north on HWY H from Lagrange.

The Muir South Kettle Classic will be run on June 18, 2011. Overall the event will stay the same with 75, 50 and 25 mile events on the same wonderful trail system. This will allow for later start times making it easier and more economical to get the the venue without the need to camp or leave your house in the early early morning. More info to Follow.

After many emails and comments we will be keeping the long lap for the 3 hour event, it will however be turned into a 3 lap event so every rider has the chance to complete three laps and keep the lap length so many want.

The event started a bit soggy and ended with very smooth riding trails. We had a heavy heavy down pour from 6 - 6:30 and that turned the dust on the top layer into grease on hard ground. Very glad to hear so many riders truly enjoying the WEMS experience. See in 2010 with a few improvements in the works already.

Well its true. June 13th is now days away. We are looking forward to having great weather and great trails again with outstanding marking. Yes, we picked up another 60 post and 25 signs for marking.

There is some very sad news. After sending out more that 80 request for raffle awards we got 1 company that replied. So the 2009 John Muir will be raffleless.

After riding the new stuff the 12 and 6 hour course will be as follow. Blue to Orange split at the horseshoe between the bogs. Then ride the orange to the fire lane turn left back to blue and finish blue loop. about 10.5 miles. The 3 hour will take the first part of the Orange over the bridge the then do the same loop as the 12 hour for about a 9 mile course.

The course will be marked out by 5pm on friday June 12th.

All riders must have a trail pass and parking for this event . The DNR has made some good money over the years from those who have tried to skip the passes.

Registration open at 6:30 am Saturday and from 6:00 - 7:00 on Friday at the shelter.

Start times are as follows:

12 hour 8:00 am , riders meeting at 7:50

6 Hours 1:00 pm, riders meeting at 12:50

3 hour 3:00 pm, riders meeting at 2:50

kids event 2:00pm, parents welcome to ride with child if you have a trail pass.

Again this year any riders 14 and under will ride for free with a paying adult.

We will have a free kids race at 2:00 pm, it will be 1 or 2 red loops depending on age and ability. Must have a helmet and no training wheels.

Make sure to bring food and water. There is a well, the water is safe but its shallow and is mineral tasting

Hey team, Marty Tank here. I just wanted to let you all know I am sell the frame from my race bike last year. It is a 19" Jamis Dragon. It is a hardtail made from 853 Reynolds steel. It has awesome geometry for XC racing. I built it up 2 years ago and have mainly used it for racing and little else. I'd like to sell it with a used Marzocchi MX Comp Air fork with ETA-100 mm Travel fork and used Hayes Hydraulic HFX-9 XC brakes (all in good working order). Looking for $500. The 2009 edition of the WEMS 12 hours of Muir will take place June 13 2009.

We are also in the works of running a "night time" cross race in the fall of 2009. It is being billed as the "Cross out Autism Night Classic" More to come later.

Here are you 12 hour solo trophies

Well we are pretty set on a course for this years 12 hour Muir event. After riding the last couple days out at Muir it has became pretty clear with all the reroutes and additions.

The 12 and 6 hour will do the full blue loop and the 3 hour will do the green loop.

Sunset on October 4th is at 6:23, so the 12 hour race will be run as a 10

hour event from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. That will also change the 6

hour time to 11:00 am to 5:00pm. then the 3 hour event will be run from

1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

We will be doing a white loop event that will be free to kids 15 and under and they all get a medal. It will start at 12:30; 30 minutes before the 3 hour event starts We will have a 1 lap and 2 lap events.

We have some great product piling up for our raffle this year. We have goodies from Planet Bike, Sunrace, Oury, Hayes, Crank Brothers, Twin Six, Smith, Michael's Cycles, Machinery Row Bicycles, Pedal Moraine, Ben's Cycle and others still coming in. If you or your employer would like to donate to the raffle, all of this years proceeds are going to the Autism Society of Southeast Wisconsin.

So we decided to sell a T Shirts as a fund raiser for the team this year. The T shirts are 100% cotton quality shirts in 4 colors. They will be $10 bucks and they make a statement that is long overdue. I will have them at events early this year. No we are not going to pocket all the proceeds. They will be going to the South Kettle trail crew to improve your trails.

The 12 hour race will be ran as a 10 hour event from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Along with that change will be to run the 6 hour from 11:00 am to 5:00pm. then the 3 hour event will be run from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. I just checked and sunset is at 6:23 that day. I don't want to force that many riders to have lights for that long.

12 Hours @ John Muir

The Race date is set, June 9th 2007. The event is located at the John Muir trail in the South Kettle Moraine State Forest in southeast Wisconsin.

The days events will start at 8 am. Registration will open at 6:30 am for the 12 hour event. All the info can be found at www.wemseries.com

A few quick notes. A trail pass and parking passes will be needed for the event.

All children 14 years old and younger riding with a parent on a team will ride that day for free. The price/promotion is only for the John Muir event.

Like every year there will be a day of raffle that will benefit Alpha Wings. They are a club that works to bring attention to the public about Alpha 1 lung disease.

5/8 Raffle items are coming in from OURY grip, HB performance brakes, Price Point, and others. Awards are all orders and I just dropped a big ol check on the insurance premiums so we are all set to go with the legals.

Many changes/reroutes have taken place over the past couple of weeks at the Muir. For now we are planning the same lap we had last year. Hopefully for some the peanut butter hill will be firmed up. Last years loop was the Blue loop to PB hill to the white loop hill climb then backwards down the orange loop hill then a fire road back out to finish out the blue loop.

5/6/2007 we have set the loops now that we hope the weatherman is correct

Loop will be about 11 miles long, outer blue loop to PB hill bypass to white loop the right on blue/ green bypass and finish out on blue loop.

6 and 3 jour loop

Loop will be about 5 miles long. Red loop to blue /green bypass and finish out on blue loop.

The call came in and it was daddy on the other end, he asked if we were singing his song. Wait the call came in, it was Verge to tell me the jerseys would ship March 30th. So we had a late thought to starting the team but Celeste pulled through and got the art work done. So we will have them in plenty of time for the first race. Kenny
